Here's a new experiment I tried today. First I made the freeform wire and bead sculpture. Next I made the peyote beadwoven pendant. Then I attached the wire & bead sculpture to the beadweaving. The sculpture is done with 16 gauge copper wire and to attach to the weaving I used very thin 24 ga copper wire. I was able to push the wire through the Delicas - then wrapped it around the heavier wire.

I'm not sure how much strain the wire will put on the weaving. Seems pretty sturdy, but I wonder how it will stand up to wear.

Comments (not just praise) appreciated.

I like the concept. I often wear a new piece if I'm not sure how it will stand up.

It's a very interesting piece. I love the look of wire and beads. I'm anxious to hear what other people think about the wear issue.

Thanks for the comments. I'm also interested in more comments on the wearability issue.

I'm sure it will hold up just fine-- can't think of any reason it wouldn't. I look forward to more in this style:)

Thanks Beadedlilly. I think it will be ok, but think I'll hang to it for a while to be sure.

Really love it, Claire ! The colors work well together. I'm venturing into combining my beadwork with wirework, too.

I love it. I especially like the juxtaposition between the free flow of the wire and the regimentation of the beading behind. The tension between the two gives the piece a whole new lively dimension. I hope it wears well- don't see why it wouldn't, but can understand your concern. If it were me, I'd wear it for a week or so.

I'm not usually impressed with wirework like that but loved yours. I would wear something like that so I would say it is saleable.

What a wonderful combination. I second Melody's comments about the freeform in contrast with the tight woven pattern beneath. I always wear my pieces a day or two to ensure comfort for my buyer. I cannot see that there would be any issues with the durability. I think if I were going to push the wire thru the weaving, I'd use firefline in the weaving vs. Nymo or other thread (just to avoid a potential fray)...I'd love to see it on a neck (for scale!). It's fabulous.
